Justice Minister Owen Bonnici and Attorney General Peter Grech were questioned by a special hearing of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe about the report on the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia. MaltaToday quotes the Attorney General who disagrees that failure to conduct a public inquiry breaches the rights of the Caruana Galizia family.  The Shift News says that Special Rapporteur Pieter Omtzigt closed the session saying that the Egrant report referred to by the minister was never published.

A master plan for the Malta International Airport and the area surrounding it aims to see the capacity of the Malta International Airport increase to match that of London’s Gatwick Airport, Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi said on Tuesday, The Malta Independent Reports

LovinMalta proposes Bus Rapid Transit as an alternative public transport system for Malta. The website argues that BRT is more efficient than buses and more feasible and environmentally friendly than a metro network.

Mater Dei hospital is preparing to admit patients injured in the armed conflict raging in Libya. Net News says that the Major Incident Unit is on alert and a plane is on the ready at the airport in Luqa to carry the patients out of Libya.

Migrants on board the Alan Kurdi rescue ship are lacking basic supplies and NGO Sea-Eye is making appeals for water, food, and clothing. The Malta Independent says that a woman has, meanwhile, been evacuated from the vessel by the Armed Forces and taken to hospital.

A bill proposing cremation law will be presented in parliament on Thursday. Newsbook says the bill proposes standards and regulations including that ashes may only be scattered in open seas. Malta is the only EU member without a law on cremation.

The catch quota for tuna has been increased by 34 tonnes more than 2018, reports The Times. Parliamentary Secretary Clint Camilleri announced a new system that will allow big operators to fish up to just under 300 tonnes and smaller operators up to 40 tonnes.

A man was arrested by at university by the Rapid Intervention Unit officers after the police received reports of stolen items from the car park. TVM says that the suspect, from Bulgaria, was handed over to the Immigration Police.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat addressed the London Technology Club and the Investment Executive Panel in London. One News quotes Muscat who said that Malta’s economy diversified from manufacture and tourism and created sectors areas including Fintech and medicinal cannabis.
