Court upholds Air Malta’s request to prohibit pilots’ industrial actions

A civil court has upheld an Air Malta’s request for a warrant of prohibitory injunction against the pilots’ union, ALPA, barring its members from resorting to industrial action.

Air Malta had filed the request earlier in July after ALPA had said that it would start an industrial action over an ongoing dispute. The industrial action would have seen flights delayed by 30 minutes.

Mr Justice Toni Abela declared that Air Malta had proven that it had a right to the injunction and confirmed the warrant which had been provisionally upheld in July 1.

ALPA is therefore prohibited from undertaking the planned industrial action.
