Donald Trump’s motorcade involved in traffic accident

Police officers escorting President Donald Trump’s motorcade were involved in an accident on Tuesday in Louisiana that injured three people.

The White House said the three motorcycle officers were being treated at a hospital and none was hurt seriously, Reuters reports.

Trump’s motorcade slowed down as it passed the site of the accident in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and reporters in a press car saw at least two officers on the ground and injured. Trump’s armored limousine was unaffected.

Three of the four officers were taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries and are in stable condition, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said.

The injured officers were from the Westlake Police Department, Sulfur Police Department and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The accident did not impact the movement of Trump’s motorcade, Secret Service spokesman Mason Brayman said.

The motorcade continued on to the Cameron LNG Export Terminal in Hackberry, where Trump toured the facility. Later, he gave a speech promoting U.S. energy policy.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders told the Evening Standard: “Today, three motorcycle officers from local law enforcement were injured in an accident while travelling with the President’s motorcade. All three are being treated for injuries at a nearby hospital and are in stable condition.”

Journalist Meridith McGraw, who was travelling in the press pool, said she saw “bloodied” officers.
