Dubai seeks return to normal despite ongoing missile attacks

Life in Dubai has largely returned to normal despite the ongoing conflict between Iran and the Gulf states, even as air defences in the United Arab Emirates continue intercepting missiles and drones.

Authorities reported that eight missiles and 26 drones were shot down over UAE territory on Tuesday as Iran’s barrage entered its eleventh day. While thousands of tourists initially left the country when the conflict began, residents in Dubai have gradually resumed daily routines, with beaches, shopping malls and rooftop bars once again attracting crowds.

Commercial flights have also begun operating again after the country partially reopened its airspace, although officials have condemned what they described as continued Iranian aggression.

Despite occasional alerts warning of incoming missiles, many residents appear relatively unfazed. So far, six people in the UAE have died from falling debris, though most projectiles have been intercepted and no major damage has been reported to Dubai’s skyline.

Some travellers remain stranded due to earlier flight cancellations.
