Duchess of Sussex speaks of the feeling of her baby showing “embryonic kicking of feminism”

The Duchess of Sussex has joked she can feel the “embryonic kicking of feminism” inside her as she joined a star-studded panel of feminists and national figures to mark International Women’s Day.

Sky News reports that Meghan told reporters: “I’d seen this documentary on Netflix about feminism and one of the things they said during pregnancy was I feel the embryonic kicking of feminism. I loved that.

“So boy or girl or whatever it is, we hope that that’s the case with, our little bump.”

The Duchess was joined at King’s College London by stars including singer Annie Lennox and former Australian prime minister Julia Gillard, to debate a range of issues affecting women today.

The royal also revealed she doesn’t read newspapers or look at Twitter to avoid getting “muddled” by the “noise”.

She said: “I don’t read anything, it’s much safer that way, because I think positive or negative, it can all sort of just feel like noise to a certain extent these days, as opposed to getting muddled with that to focus on the real cause.”
