eCabs and What’s Cooking Malta Collaborate for Successful Charity Event

Over 6,650 reports to emergency services were coordinated throughout February by Wildlife Victoria in the aftermath of the Victorian bushfires and extreme heat events in Australia.

Wildlife Victoria was the charity chosen by international food writer Elsa Messi, founder of the gourmet lifestyle guide http://www.whatscookingmalta.com, to benefit from a total of €3,000 (5000AU$) in proceeds generated from a fundraising dinner organised recently at Manouche in St Julian’s.

eCabs supported the event by providing free transport to media and guests attending the event.

The dinner was a highly attended one which saw 70 guests treated to a lavish menu prepared by some of Malta’s top chefs namely Charles Pintonino, Rafel Sammut of Briju, Chris Borg from Ramla, Alain James Grech from The Chef’s Table, Andrew Vella from Rebekah’s and Zoran Bogdanvoski from Elba. Noni provided the delicious canapés.

“I set up ‘What’s Cooking Malta’ because I have a genuine passion for food, a passion shared by so many people here in Malta. My other passion is animals and this is why I chose Wildlife Victoria, a charity in Australia collecting funds to help wildlife shelters and carers rebuild enclosures and equipment lost in the recent bushfires, as the beneficiary of this event,” explained Elsa Messi.

“I am delighted that this culinary event turned out to be a unique way for guests to experience food from some of Malta’s most prominent chefs whilst contributing some much-needed funds to animal carers in Australia.”

“I am also delighted to have found the generous support of eCabs for this event, who share the same love for animals. Since ample wines and prosecco were made available on the night courtesy of Marsovin and Charles Grech, we needed a reliable transport partner to help get our gests back home safely and swiftly!” added Elsa Messi.
