Editors’ Perspectives – 31st May 2018

The editorial of The Malta Business Weekly analyses the current situation in Italy. Entitled <<Italians must combat threat to their sovreignity>>  focuses on the current situation in Italy and presents the argument the situation is about the country’s sovreignity and the reflection of the people’s vote.

Orizzont’s editorial <<Is-sigurta’ fil-kostruzzjoni>> refers to the situation of safety in the construction industry. The editor praises the efforts of the Occupational Health and Safety and invites everyone involved to take active role in creating a healthy and safe environment.

The Malta Independent’s editorial asks <<Why is the review taking so long?>> referring to the claims about the higher energy bills and the request for review of the way bills are calculated.

In-Nazzjon’s editorial refers about the need to give a priority to the Maltese language as it can’t be allowed to reduce its importance.

The Times editorial is entitled <<No dice with financial services>>. It focuses on the appointment of Joseph Cuschieri as CEO of the MFSA. Cuschieri was CEO of the Gaming authority. The editorial argues that “it will take more than recruitment, smooth talking and whitewash to undo the damage done to the MFSA and the essential economic sector it policies.
