The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) is hosting its first Insurance Conference, on February 6th, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, Malta Golden Sands bringing together leading figures in insurance regulation and industry experts to address crucial developments in the sector.
The Authority will welcome Ms. Petra Hielkema, Chairperson of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), as a distinguished keynote speaker, addressing the topic of Solvency II.
Her presence underscores the conference’s significance in the European insurance landscape and its focus on critical regulatory developments.
The conference will centre on two pivotal themes shaping the future of insurance: the Solvency II Review Package and cross-border business operations.
Other speakers include Kenneth Farrugia, MFSA’s Chief Executive Officer, who will deliver the opening statement, and Christopher P. Buttigieg, MFSA’s Chief Officer Supervision, who will address current trends in regulation and supervision.
Industry expert Alberto Corinti from Bocconi University, Milan, will provide valuable insights into the Solvency II Review context. The conference will also feature Damian Jaworski, Director of the International Cooperation Department from the Polish Financial Supervision Authority, offering perspective on cross-border business implications.
Interactive panel sessions throughout the day will explore various aspects of the Solvency II Review Package implementation, cross-border business challenges and opportunities, and the future of insurance. These discussions will be led by senior MFSA officials and industry leaders.
