The European Commission has said there is currently no shortage of jet fuel across the European Union, despite ongoing disruption linked to tensions in the Middle East.
Speaking to reporters, Commission spokesperson Eva Hrncirova said the situation is being closely monitored, with coordination efforts underway at EU level. She noted that the bloc’s oil coordination group met last week and is due to meet again, as part of ongoing preparedness measures.
Hrncirova stressed that ensuring the availability of jet fuel remains a priority, highlighting the EU’s strong refining capacity to process crude oil and produce aviation fuel. While preparations are being made for different scenarios, she said that, at present, there are no fuel shortages within the EU.
On travel concerns, she declined to advise citizens directly on summer holiday plans, stating that such decisions remain a personal choice.
She added that the EU is considering potential “flexibilities” to respond to the situation, and confirmed that an upcoming energy package will address elements linked to the current crisis.
