This is a summary of Politico’s projections for the voting today in Portugal:
Portugal – The Projections
If turnout of 33.67% is maintained in this vote, Politico predicts PS will beat second-placed PSD/PPD by 258,962 votes. That is just 3.86% of the 6,712, 796 expected non-voters.
Portugal – The Issues
This election is a dress rehearsal for Portugual’s October general election. The governing Socialist party (PS) recovered from a poor campaign start after Prime Minister António Costa threatened to resign in a row over teachers’ pay.
Critical issues include the allocation of EU structural funds, budget spending and the fair application of fiscal rules.
