The Independent reports that eight ringleaders of the migrant revolt at the Ħal Far open centre on Sunday have pleaded not guilty. The court denied bail based on the gravity of the charges and the lack of ties to Malta of the accused.
The Independent quotes Prime Minister Joseph Muscat who announced in parliament that the European Union accepted Malta’s budget ‘without hesitation’. Muscat said that the government’s plans reward the most vulnerable in society.
