Eurozone finance ministers urge Italy to redraft budget plan

Economy Minister Giovanni Tria has “understood” the need to act within the EU rules on Italy’s 2019 budget bill, Economic Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici said Monday. ANSA reports Moscovici said “he is my interlocutor, I have no other type of information”.

Financial Times reports that Eurozone finance ministers have urged Italy to bow to Brussels’ calls to redraft a bud­get plan  that breaks European spending rules, brushing aside attempts by Rome to defend the fiscal expansion as key to reviving the country’s economy.
