Mark Zuckerberg said on Monday that Facebook is considering the creation of a news product on the social network.
POLITICO reports that Zuckerberg said that the service will be integrated within the platform of Facebook. It would rely on third-party publishers, to provide the content.
The focus is to provide the users of Facebook a trustworthy source of information.
“We have decided that there really is an opportunity to do something like that with news as well,” Zuckerberg told Mathias Döpfner, chief executive of the German publisher Axel Springer in an hour-long video posted to his Facebook page. Axel Springer is a co-owner of POLITICO’s European edition.
