Ferrero to make all its packaging 100% reusable and recyclable

The Ferrero Group has announced plans to make all its packaging 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025.

Ferrero said it is committing to eliminating unnecessary plastic packaging through redesign, innovation and new delivery models.

The commitment referred to by the Italian confectionary company in its 10th CSR Report, entitled the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy Global Commitment was created in 2018, to help businesses and governments ‘to commit to a set of ambitious 2025 targets’.

To achieve this new challenging commitment, Ferrero said that it ‘will engage its entire group, suppliers and partners’.

To boost local plant waste recycling initiatives, Ferrero is partnering with actors such as recyclers, national waste management systems and non-food companies to explore applications for difficult to recycle packaging structures and identify projects to use plant packaging waste.
