Finnish police deal big blow to cocaine trafficking ring

Finnish police said they have cracked a large cocaine ring in the Tampere region which imported 13 kilos of cocaine from the Netherlands to Finland in 2017-2018 and involved dozens of suspects.

Finnish police said that this is the largest ever case of cocaine in Finland.
Police said that the drugs were carried inside the bodies of traffickers during 21 separate deliveries.

The police started their investigation when they realized there had been an increase in the amount of cocaine available in the Tampere region of central Finland.

Police said a Dutch citizen was detained in October after the individual was found with 833 grams of cocaine and 30,000 euros in cash. After that, police then detained a Finnish national thought to be smuggling operation’s ringleader.

So far during the preliminary investigation, a total of five suspects were remanded into custody, while two others were remanded in absentia.
