Food inflation tops 10% in May

In May 2022, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the HICP was 5.8%, up from 5.4 % in April 2022.

The 12-month moving average rate for May stood at 2.6%. The largest upward impact on annual inflation was measured in the Food and non-alcoholic beverages Index (+1.79%), while the downward impact was recorded in the Communication Index (-0.04%)

The highest annual inflation rates in May 2022 were recorded in Food and non-alcoholic beverages (10.4%) and Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (8.8%).

On the other hand, the lowest annual inflation rates were registered in Communication (-1.1%) and Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.9%).
