UPDATED: French police deployed after emergency situation in museum

The French SWAT team, RAID, has arrested a suspect who barricaded himself inside a museum on the French Riviera in the town of Saint Raphael.

Police had taken up position outside a museum in southern France after the man barricaded at roughly 8am local time. The alarm was raised when cleaning staff could not gain access to the building.

Local media reported that at least one individual was inside and had locked the access to the museum.

The police say that one or possibly two people broke into the museum during the night. On the walls of the museum, someone has written in Arabic, “the museum is going to become a hell.”
