French Prime Minister announces closure of cafes, shops, restaurants and cinemas

France is closing its bars, restaurants and other non-essential outlets as it joins other European countries introducing stricter controls to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Euronews reports that the Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said the measures would take effect from midnight on Saturday.

It comes with Spain set to implement a nationwide lockdown after seeing a sharp spoke in cases on Friday.
