Haftar militias strike missiles towards Mitiga airport

In what is being considering as an act of revenge by warlord Khalifa Haftar in response to significant advances made by Libyan army forces on Monday, militia stationed on the southern periphery of  the capital Tripoli fired on Monday night a barrage of Grad-type missiles towards populated areas and Mitiga Airport.

While significant damage was caused to people’s property, no casualties have been reported so far.

Yesterday, Libya’s UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) had announced that it managed to regain control of significant chunks of lands west of Tripoli.

The United Nations, the European Union and the United States have pleaded with the warring sides for a “humanitarian pause” to help fight the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. These appeals have so far fallen on deaf ears.
