Haftar’s second offensive on Tripoli repelled

Libyan media is reporting that a second offensive against the Libyan capital Tripoli by forces under the command of Khalifa Haftar has been repelled.

Dubbed ‘Zero Hour Attack’, Khalifa Haftar’s second major offensive against Tripoli started early on Monday from over four front lines in southern Tripoli to enter the city centre of the Libyan capital.

But few hours into the fierce clashes between Haftar’s forces and the forces of Government of National Accord (GNA), Haftar’s forces suffered major blows to both fighters and military equipment as GNA forces repelled their attacks.

Uneasy calm has descended on the front lines after the Zero Hour offensive was repelled, while Haftar’s media outlets said the general command put off the Zero Hour offensive due to a malfunction in the communications system.

For over a week, the Zero Hour has been the talk of all Haftar’s forces, including his spokesman Ahmed Al-Mismari, who said in a presser that their plan included protecting state institutions and diplomatic missions in Tripoli.
