Hamas casts doubt on participation in ceasefire talks

The Palestinian militant group Hamas has requested that mediators present a plan based on previous discussions rather than initiating new negotiations for a Gaza ceasefire, raising doubts about its participation in an upcoming meeting organized by the mediators.

Last week, leaders from the United States, Egypt, and Qatar urged Israel and Hamas to engage in negotiations on Thursday, either in Cairo or Doha, to finalize a Gaza ceasefire and hostage-release deal.

Israel announced on Sunday that it would send negotiators to participate in the meeting. While Hamas initially indicated it was considering the offer, it has now suggested it may opt out of the new round of talks.
