Harry and Meghan urged to ‘slow down’ after working through maternity leave

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex embark on an extended family break on Monday, Buckingham Palace aides and their closest confidantes reveal that they have been imploring them to “slow down” for months, expressing concern over 8am phone calls and a working routine that offered little respite.

“There was no maternity leave, there was no summer break,” one told the Sunday Telegraph.

When Archie was born in May, the couple had only just moved into Frogmore Cottage, their home in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

It was “somewhat chaotic” as builders continued to complete an extensive refurbishment, the young family got used to their new nanny and a new routine, whilst at the same time maintaining a hectic schedule.

The couple had a tumultuous few months touring southern Africa and taking on the tabloid press with furious zeal among other things.
