The Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) President Gabriele Gravina on Thursday unveiled the first Panini soccer album for Italian women players which he described as ‘historic’.
The album, Calciatrici 2024-2025, is made up of 322 stickers to be collected in 48 pages with the cover representing the ten professional teams with one player for each team.
“The Federation cares about the entire movement and the development of the women’s one, we have done it with large investments and with a project aimed at establishing a principle of civilization in our country.
But we must thank Panini because the movement also needs a path of recognition that occurs through projects like this”, added Gravina.
The president of the Women’s Serie A Division, Federica Cappelletti, was also enthusiastic: “After 64 editions, finally having one dedicated to female footballers is a great emotion.
This is proof that women’s football is growing a lot and is becoming increasingly important”.
Juve and Italy goalkeeping great Gianluigi Buffon, head of delegation for the Italian national team, described the album’s presentation as an “epochal” event.
“The girls should be proud – continued the 2006 world champion -.
With their way of dreaming and fighting, they have managed to have this satisfaction too. For them, it is a deserved recognition”.
Also present was Alex Bertani, director of the Italian market for Panini, who said he was “proud” of an album that is “the result of great teamwork between all the parties involved”.
Cappelletti and Gravina then symbolically glued the first sticker in the history of the collection inside the album which also contains pages dedicated to Serie B and the national team, which will play the final phase of the European Championship in Switzerland next July.
“And there we would like to play a leading role in the tournament”, vowed the coach of the Italian women’s team, Andrea Soncin. Furthermore, on the occasion of the 18th matchday of the Women’s Serie A on Sunday 9 February 2025 and the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia Femminile.
Panini Calciatrici 2024-2025 will be distributed free of charge to the public in the stadiums that will host the matches or can be purchased online via the Panini website.
