Holiday cancellation for UK Government senior aides – Queen may have to cut short her summer holiday amid political crisis

All U.K. government special advisers have had their summer holidays canceled as Downing Street ramps up preparations for a no-deal Brexit, POLITICO reports.

Eddie Lister, one of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s most senior aides, emailed the special advisers Thursday night to announce all annual leave is off until after October 31 — when Johnson has promised to quit the EU, “do or die.” Those with holidays already booked will be compensated for money already spent.

Sky News, meanwhile reports that the Queen may have to cut short her summer holiday if she is needed to carry out any of her constitutional duties amid speculation her new prime minister could draw her into a political crisis.

The palace will not directly comment on whether political matters could see her returning early, the report adds.

Meanwhile, UK’s foreign minister Dominic Raab was reported by Reuters and Euronews,  saying that if the European Union did not budge on the terms of Britain’s withdrawal from the EU, it would have to take responsibility for a no-deal scenario.
