Huawei’s Meng Wanzhou sues Canadian authorities over arrest

Meng Wanzhou , the chief financial officer of China’s tech giant Huawei and who is currently going through extradition proceedings in Canada at the request of the United States, is suing Canada over her arrest.

Meng  was arrested at Vancouver airport in December on the suspicion of fraud and breaching US sanctions on Iran. Canadian

But the BBC now reports that Meng has now filed a civil claim against Canada’s government, border agency and police for “serious breaches” of her civil rights.

Her arrest is a source of tension between China and Canada and the United States and the Beijing government has attacked her arrest and the extradition process as a “political incident”.
