India carries air strikes on Pakistan

12 days after the deadly Pulwama attack, Indian Air Force early Tuesday carried out air strike on the biggest Jaish-e-Mohammed training camp at Balakot inside Pakistan.

In a statement India’s foreign minister said “In an intelligence led operation in the early hours of today India struck the biggest training camp of JeM in Balakot. A large number of JeM terrorists were killed. The strike avoided civilian casualties. Credible intel was received that JeM was planning more suicide attacks in India. In the face of imminent danger, a preemptive strike became absolutely necessary.”

Pakistan foreign minister told reporters after an “emergency meeting” with high-level officials that “First, they committed aggression against Pakistan today. It is a violation of the LoC. I consider it a violation of the LoC, and Pakistan his right to give a suitable response in self defence.”

The extent of the damage inflicted on the ground is not immediately known but the sources claimed the Pakistani side sustained significant losses.
