Iran Launches New Missile Wave as Tehran Denies US Peace Talks

Tensions in the Middle East escalated further on Tuesday as Iran launched a fresh wave of missile strikes, despite claims from Donald Trump that “very good” talks were underway to end the conflict. Tehran swiftly rejected those assertions, denying any diplomatic engagement had taken place.
The renewed attacks targeted Israel and surrounding areas, marking another volatile chapter in a conflict now entering its fourth week. According to Israeli military officials, one ballistic missile reportedly landed in Beirut, raising fears of further regional spillover.
Trump’s comments earlier this week had briefly calmed global markets, sending oil prices lower amid hopes of de-escalation. He also reiterated a stark ultimatum, warning Iran to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz or face severe US retaliation targeting its energy infrastructure.
However, Iranian officials dismissed the US president’s statements as misinformation. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf described the claims as “fake news” aimed at manipulating financial and oil markets. Iran’s foreign ministry echoed the denial, insisting no negotiations had occurred.
Meanwhile, the White House confirmed that US military operations remain ongoing. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that “Operation Epic Fury” continues “unabated” even as Washington explores potential diplomatic openings. Reports suggest Pakistan could act as a mediator.
Adding to uncertainty among Western allies, French Armed Forces Chief Fabien Mandon warned that the US is becoming “less and less predictable” in its strategic posture.
