Iran says it can reopen Hormuz in two days if US meets conditions
Iran has said it could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within two days if the United States accepts its conditions, shortening the seven-day timeline it proposed in September.
Foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei described the revised timeframe as evidence of Tehran’s “good-faith approach”, but said progress depended on Washington agreeing to the demands.
Iran’s conditions include ending the war on all fronts, unfreezing Iranian assets, lifting oil sanctions and ending the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has also called for recognition of a new transit route through the strait agreed with Oman, reduced US troop numbers in the region and the removal of further sanctions.
Diplomatic exchanges are continuing through mediators, with Qatar helping draft a preliminary agreement. The developments come amid renewed military threats from Washington and Tel Aviv. Baghaei warned that any attack on Iran would prompt an immediate and comprehensive response.
