Iran warns of bigger attack if Israel retaliates, Israel’s war cabinet convened

CNN reports that Israel’s war cabinet will meet today at 2:00 p.m. local time (7 a.m. ET) to discuss its response to Iran’s unprecedented attack on Saturday night, an Israeli official has told CNN. An hours-long war cabinet meeting ended Sunday night without a decision on how to respond. The cabinet is determined to act – but has yet to decide on the timing and scope.

Meanwhile, Al Jazeera, reported that a Palestinian man has been shot dead and two others wounded by Israeli forces during a raid into the city of Nablus, in the northern occupied West Bank. The Palestinian Authority’s health ministry said the man was killed after being shot in the chest, while another critically injured man was hit in the abdomen and chest. The third man was wounded in the foot. The violence came after undercover Israeli special forces infiltrated the al-Mureij neighbourhood of Nablus and raided a building belonging to the Joud Allah family.

Russia also announced that it is “extremely” concerned about the escalation of tensions in the Middle East following Iran’s attack on Israel. “We call on all countries in the region to exercise restraint,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. “Further escalation is in no one’s interests. Therefore, of course, we advocate that all disagreements be resolved exclusively by political and diplomatic methods.”

The Middle East Eye, reported that Iran on Sunday warned that it would launch a more severe attack if Israelretaliates against overnight drone and missile strikes, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed victory. “Our response will be much larger than tonight’s military action if Israel retaliates against Iran,” armed forces chief of staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri told state TV. Bagheri added that Iran has warned Washington against backing any Israeli retaliation or risk its bases in the region being targeted.
