Israel bans UN Secretary General from entering country
Israel’s foreign minister says Antonio Guterres has been banned from the country due to what he sees as anti-Israel bias by the UN chief.
Israel Katz said he had declared Mr Guterres a “persona non grata” in Israel.
“Anyone who cannot unequivocally condemn Iran’s heinous attack on Israel, as almost every country in the world has done, does not deserve to step foot on Israeli soil,” he said on X.
Mr Guterres yesterday condemned the “broadening of the Middle East conflict, with escalation after escalation” and called for a ceasefire in a statement that did not specifically mention Iran.
