Italian health ministry takes precautionary measures over Ebola outbreak

The Italian health ministry issued a circular detailing preventive measures linked to the outbreak of the Bundibugyo virus, a strain of Ebola, in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

The ministry said that due to uncertainties surrounding the scale and geographic spread of the outbreak, the potential severity of the infection and the absence of approved specific treatments or vaccines, precautionary surveillance measures would be introduced for personnel from governmental, non-governmental and aid organizations operating in the affected areas and arriving from Congo and Uganda.
