Italian police capture gunman suspected of shooting 4-yr-old

A man suspected of shooting a four-year-old girl in Naples a week ago has been captured, prosecutors said on Friday.

The girl, Noemi, was critically injured in the apparent Camorra mafia hit in the southern city’s Piazza Nazionale.

Her grandmother and the real target of the attack, a man named as Salvatore Nurcaro, were wounded too. The suspect was named as Armando Del Re.

The suspect’s brother was also detained and he is accused of being an accomplice. They have both been taken to the Carabinieri police’s ‘Pastrengo’ barracks in Naples.

Noemi is breathing without assistance after being taken off mechanical ventilation, doctors at Naples Santobono Pausilipon hospital said Friday.

A medical bulletin said that the child’s treatment had been changed so that she was less heavily sedated.
