Italian Serie A declares war on pirate TV – Fines will range between €2,500 and €26,000

The Italian Serie A has declared war on pirate TV.

Earlier on Tuesday, the managing director of the Italian Lega Luigi De Siervo told Radio Crc that the clubs lost over one billion euros which the citizens are channelling to those who through pirated TV are fuelling organised crime.

I invite everyone to understand that this is not a clever thing, but it is a crime, De Siervo said.

In a rather strong statement the President of Lega said that in a few weeks time, the first responsible people will be named and will start paying hefty fines.

“Each internet connection leaves an indelible trail inside the servers, which is leaving a guarantee identification which in turn leads to the police. If the behaviour should continue, the citizens will be fined: the fines will vary between 2,500 and 26,000 euros. The strategy is part of a multi-faceted attack on criminals and the result of a legal battle that has been going on for months.
