The Italian sports and journalism world is under shock as one of the most veteran journalists, Franco Lauro died at the age of 58.

The Rai veteran journalist with a very long curriculum was found dead in the afternoon in Rome, most probably after suffering a heart attack.

Il Messagero reports that a friend of Lauro raised the alarm to the emergency department following the fact that she hadn’t heard from him for two days.

The 118 crew and the carabinieri patrol had to ask the firefighters to force the door open in his residence in the central via Croce, Rome.

The medical staff could not help but declare the journalist death. His older brother Salvatore, a renowned oncologist confirmed the news.

The journalist was found dead on the bed, still dressed.

It seems that the suddenness of the attack did not allow him time to ask for help with his cell phone.
