Italy: Di Maio intends banning betting sponsorships and advertising from TV and Sports

The Minister of Economic Development and Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Luigi Di Maio, has announced that he intends to start to necessary legal procedures which will lead to an absolute ban on betting advertising, irrespective whether it is TV or football jerseys (and not only) of the Italian teams.

In Italy there are quite a number of companies that have as a partner a betting company, including Juventus, Inter, Rome, Naples and Milan.

Even the TV companies distribute the revenues for television rights to companies thanks to the advertising of betting related communications.

Sport Mediaset reports that this decision might turn to be a delicate situation because at stake there are around hundred million euro, which seriously risk getting out of the world of football  at a time when money does not abound.
