Premier Giuseppe Conte on Tuesday held talks in Rome with the head of the UN-backed Libyan government, Fayez al-Sarraj.
Premier Giuseppe Conte said he hoped to soon meet eastern Libyan strongman General Khalifa Haftar. “In all my talks,” he said after meeting Libyan Premier Fayez al-Sarraj, “I am continuing to insist that the military option does not lead to any stable solution”.
The talks lasted one and a half hours.
Italy is trying to mediate between Sarraj and eastern Libyan strongman General Khalifa Haftar, who has launched an offensive on Tripoli.
