Italy’s Prime Minister says that ‘Spain’s decision is a turning point. From today Italy is no longer alone’

In a Facebook Post, Italian Prime Minister said that “Spain decided to welcome the Aquarius ship, which had been temporarily assisted by two Italian patrol boats. Italy’s requests begin to be heard. We had asked for a more supportive Europe and that our country was not left alone in the management of migratory flows. The initiative of Spain goes precisely in this direction.” He thanked Ministers Salvini and Toninelli, because “it is thanks to their work if we have achieved this first precious result. It is an important turning point: from today Italy is no longer alone. Now we continue to work to really change the Dublin Regulation.”

In the meantime he announced that this evening he convened a summit at Palazzo Chigi with the competent ministers to deal with the issue of immigration emergency. He stressed that this “will be the first point I will face on Friday in my meeting with President Macron and Monday with Chancellor Merkel. We want to bring home a reform of the Dublin Regulation that is truly fairer and fairer for everyone.”
