Joe Biden issues ‘full and unconditional’ pardon for son Hunter

Outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden has granted a presidential pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, who was facing sentencing on charges of gun possession and tax fraud.

Although Biden had previously stated he would not pardon his son, he reversed his decision, citing what he perceived as “selective and unfair persecution” against Hunter.

This marks the first instance of a U.S. president pardoning their own child, though it is not unprecedented for presidents to extend pardons to family members.

The move has sparked strong reactions from both Democrats and Republicans, with President-elect Donald Trump condemning it as “an abuse and miscarriage of justice.”
