Boris Johnson announced he will ask MPs to back a pre-Christmas general election according to the Guardian. BBC News say that the Election Day is expected to be December 12th.

The prime minister is expected to say he will table a motion under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act next Monday. It would then be voted on on Tuesday.

The report adds that “Johnson had previously said he would wait for confirmation from the EU27 of the Brexit delay he reluctantly requested on Saturday, after MPs refused to fast-track his deal through parliament in time for the 31 October deadline.”
