Kurdish fighters and White House declare complete fall of ISIS in Syria

Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have declared an end in the battle against ISIS in Baghouz, eastern Syria, the last bastion of ISIS in Syria.

The SDF have claimed “all territory in Syria is now clear of IS fighters”.
The fall of the last IS stronghold in Baghouz ends the militant group’s self-declared caliphate, which at its height stretched across large parts of Syria and Iraq.

Earlier Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters aboard Air Force One that the territorial ISIS caliphate had been “100 percent eliminated” from the war-torn Middle Eastern country, marking a major victory for President Donald Trump that had eluded his predecessor.
