Legendary director Rob Reiner and his wife, producer Michele Singer Reiner, have died in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home, the family confirmed. A spokesperson said the couple’s sudden deaths have left them “heartbroken.” Los Angeles police are investigating the incident as an apparent homicide.
Investigators were also interviewing a family member regarding the deaths, CNN has reported. Other outlets, including TMZ and People reported that the two had suffered wounds consistent with a knife attack.
Reiner, whose career spanned decades, was known for directing classics including When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride and A Few Good Men. He first gained fame as Archie Bunker’s son-in-law on All in the Family. Michele Singer Reiner produced films and contributed to publicity photography, including on Misery.
