Lebanon Issues Arrest Warrant against Saif al-Islam Gaddafi

Authorities in Lebanon this week issued arrest warrants in absentia for ten Libyan in the case of the disappearance of Shia cleric Moussa Al-Sadr and his two companions Mohammed Yaacoub and journalist Abbas Badr.

Among the arrest warrants issued by the Lebanese authorities there is one for Saif Islam Gaddafi, former Libyan dictator’s son, former spy chief Abdullah Sanussi, for their role in the disappearance of Al-Sadr.

The warrants are being forwarded to Interpol.

The Lebanese judiciary holds the regime of late Libyan leader Moammar al-Gaddafi responsible for the disappearance Sadr, who went missing with his two companions in Libya on August 31, 1978. Sadr was a highly revered Shi’ite cleric who founded the Lebanese AMAL Movement in 1974.
