Leonardo’s Madonna with Child to return to Italy…for two months on artist’s 500th anniversary since his death

Leonardo da Vinci’s Benois Madonna is returning to Italy for two months for the 500th anniversary of the artist’s death.

The painting, whose completion is dated to between 1478 and 1480, is being loaned from the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, 35 years since the only other time the work went on display in Italy.
