The first blast went off at a mail room in an office the capital Amsterdam just after 8am on Wednesday. A second explosion was reported at a post sorting company 125 miles away in the southern town of Kerkrade on Wednesday morning.

Dutch police have been investigating a spate of letter bombs, which they said appeared to have been sent by the same person, since 3 January.
