Libya announces limit of foreign currency allowed into or out of country

The National Anti-Money-Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Committee issued a decision to determine the foreign currency allowed to be brought into or taken out of the country at the individual level through the Libyan outlets.

The Libya Observer reports that the Chairman of the Committee – the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) – Saddek Elkaber, put a ceiling of $ 10 thousand or its equivalent in other foreign currencies, for the funds allowed in or out of the country at the individual level, according to Sada Al-Jamarek newspaper.

Any amount exceeding the amount specified in the resolution should be disclosed to the Libyan Customs authority, by filling out a form for currency disclosure, according to the resolution.
