Libyans told not to return back to country for time being

The director of the Attaches and delegates Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education requested, the academic attachés of the Libyan embassies abroad to inform Libyan students and employees not to return to Libya during the coming three weeks.

The ministry said in a statement posted on its official Facebook account that the step is part of the precautionary measures taken to address the possible spread of the COVID-19.

So far Libya has not reported any cases of coronavirus.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) office in Libya has announced a temporary closure of some of its services in Tripoli, including the registration office for illegal immigrants in Al-Sarraj district and the community day center in Gurji.

The UNHCR has explained in a statement that its action comes in response to developments related to the coronavirus epidemic.

This comes in light of the measures taken by the Libyan authorities to keep the virus away from the country, including the suspension of classes and closing all air and land ports.
