Liverpool go eight points clear in Premier League

Liverpool will spend the international break eight points clear after just eight games after another dramatic Premier League weekend. James Milner’s 94th-minute penalty maintained the Reds’ 100 per cent start as Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers returned Anfield for the first time since his sacking.

Adama Traore scored twice for beleaguered Wolves to beat an out-of-sorts Manchester City.

Elsewhere, Tottenham’s dire run continued on Saturday lunchtime as they were soundly beaten by Bournemouth after getting humiliated in the Champions League by Bayern. Later on Saturday, Crystal Palace came from behind to seal a stunning win over West Ham in a London derby. On Sunday, Arsenal narrowly beat Bournemouth and Chelsea hit four past Southampton. Manchester United’s own malaise worsened as the weekend concluded, Newcastle running out 1-0 winners in front of their own fans.
