Lookman’s Hat-Trick Secures First European Trophy for Atalanta against Leverkusen

Atalanta secured their first-ever European trophy with an outstanding display against German champions Leverkusen. Ademola Lookman’s hat-trick halted Bayer Leverkusen’s remarkable 51-game unbeaten run, earning 66-year-old coach Gian Piero Gasperini the first major trophy of his illustrious career. Atalanta’s high pressing from the start put Leverkusen on the back foot, allowing them to take the lead after just 12 minutes.

Lookman’s clinical finishing extended their lead to 2-0 in the first half, with Leverkusen struggling to find their rhythm. Despite Leverkusen’s attempts to rally in the second half, Atalanta’s threat persisted, and Lookman added a third goal to seal the victory. Although Leverkusen’s late goals reputation kept the pressure on, Atalanta held firm to claim a momentous 3-0 win.
