Malpensa Airport closed after intense hailstorm

Milan’s Malpensa airport was temporary closed on Saturday after an intense hailstorm.

The hailstorm hit Malpensa airport in full, around 4.30pm. Hail has accumulated on the ground and on the runway, creating a frozen mantle of a few centimeters. The airport has been closed for at least 40 minutes. At the moment the situation seems to have improved: it continues to rain but the hailstorm has ceased.
