Malta: Economic success shouldn’t be measured on GDP alone, Delia says

Partit Nazzjonalista leader Adrian Delia said that economic success should not be measured on GDP alone during an interview on the party’s station.

Delia highlighted that the quality of life has to improve, so that people can enjoy the wealth generated. Speaking on NET TV, Delia said it was ironic to register 600 deaths which were related to respiratory issues.

He noted that the air quality had improved since the coronavirus related measures came into force. The partial lockdown saw people commuting less. This led to an improvement in the air quality. He mentioned a new portfolio in the shadow cabinet and said that the Opposition was looking into proposals on how to digitalise further the economy. This would require less commuting.
